"Chase the Dream, Not the Competition"

Our Founder

A calling to serve the widow and the orphan.

In August 2020, Pastor (Dr.) F.A Adetayo witnessed a series of devastating hardships facing widows, orphans and the less privileged in his community — suffering that could no longer be ignored. Rather than look away, he chose to act, founding Emmanuel Relief Foundation that same month. What began as one man's refusal to stay silent has grown into a mission reaching the forgotten with real, sustained support.

The founding story

A response to suffering that could not be ignored.

In August 2020, Pastor (Dr.) F.A Adetayo came face to face with a series of devastating and deeply disturbing incidents in his community. Widows left with nothing after the loss of a husband. Orphans without anyone to turn to. Families among the less privileged carrying burdens far heavier than anyone should bear alone. These were not distant statistics — they were neighbours, and their hardship could no longer be ignored.

Confronted by what he had seen, he was faced with a choice familiar to many but acted upon by few: to look away, or to do something. He chose to act. That same month, he founded Emmanuel Relief Foundation (EMREF) — not as an idea for "someday", but as an immediate and direct response to real people in real need.

From the very beginning, the mission was clear and specific: to reach widows, orphans and the less privileged with practical, sustained support — food that keeps a household going, school fees and materials that keep a child learning, and emergency relief for families in crisis. Not one-time handouts, but a steady presence that people could depend on.

What started as one person's refusal to stay silent soon drew others who shared the same conviction. Volunteers, donors and community partners joined the work, and EMREF grew into a structured foundation with branches in Ijebu Ode (Ogun State) and Apomu (Osun State), serving families across two states.

Today, EMREF continues to grow — carefully, transparently and with the same heart it began with. Every gift is accounted for, every distribution is documented, and the dignity of every person we serve remains at the centre of everything we do. The foundation stands as proof of a simple truth: that when one person chooses to respond instead of look away, hope can be restored to many.

"When we began, we had no building and no budget — only a burden for the widow, the orphan and the forgotten. Everything since has been grace. Thank you for standing with us."
